It is also the most natural procedure on the market. Want Hair offer hair transplants as well as beard and eyebrow restoration for both male and female.

If you are not comfortable letting the world know you have had a hair transplant, then you’re in luck, as people will only notice how much younger and more confident you appear. Additionally, you can get back to most of your normal activities after just a couple of weeks thanks to the minimal recovery period.

Before you undergo a transplant, it is important for you to understand what is causing your hair loss...

HOW A HAIR TRANSPLANT WORKS?

Is your head of hair not what it used to be? All of a sudden you have noticed your hair is thinner and your hairline has crept back over time. Fear not, it’s not too late to turn back the clock and bring back that youthful mane. A hair transplant is a surgical treatment which involves moving healthy hair follicles to areas on your head affected by balding. FUE is seen as the most advanced and widely used option. It is less invasive and results in minimal scarring.

A hair transplant involves a number of stages, follow the guide below to learn more...

Growth

Preparing the head

To prepare for the extraction and implantation of your precious hair follicles, the first step is to prepare the head. This usually involves fully shaving the head, though some smaller surgeries can be done with a partial shave. Once your head is prepared, you are ready for the local anaesthetic to be administered.

Extracting the follicles

The type of extraction depends on the hair transplant technique. At Want Hair, we use the FUE method. A micro punch tool is used to make a small incision around each individual hair to extract the whole follicle from underneath the skin, we call this a graft. This may be done thousands of times but dont worry we spread it evenly across the donor area.

Separating the grafts

After harvesting, the grafts are sorted and prepared for transplantation. This involves separating them into grafts containing one or multiple hairs. The follicles are typically kept in a special solution at the right temperature to maintain their ability to grow your new head of hair.

Creating the incisions

Now for the surgeons big moment where the incisions will be made into the balding areas. These are created using a small surgical blade. To achieve high success rates, it is important for the incisions to be made at specific angles and a certain depth. We are proud that our surgeons are highly experienced to get this right!

Ready to implant

This the final step of surgery. At this stage we are implanting the follicular units into the channels created. The implantation is meticulously controlled to ensure a natural-looking result. The placement of grafts is crucial for achieving a seamless blend between the transplanted hair and your native hair.

Time to heal

The hair follicles will heal and take root, ready for the next hair growth cycle. It is common to experience initial shedding of the transplanted hair before new natural-looking growth begins. It is important to follow care instructions provided to ensure proper healing and optimal results.

Waiting for growth

After undergoing hair transplant surgery, the newly transplanted hair takes time to grow and mature. It is essential for the hair follicles to establish themselves before producing new hair. The timeline for visible growth can vary, with some seeing results as early as a few months post-surgery, while for others it may take up to a year for the effects to be seen.

COMMON QUESTIONS

FUE Hair transplants are relatively low pain surgeries. All our procedures are performed under local anaesthetic. The injection of the anaesthetic can cause some pain and discomfort for around 5 minutes but after that you will not feel any pain. A bit of minor discomfort is normal during the first few days of healing, but it is worth it!
